Sun. 07/18/2010 - Jazz Age Lawn Party

This weekend, there was "Jazz Age Lawn Party" in Governors Island. The island's historical views and landmarks provided the perfect setting for Gatsby affair. Before I go there, I didn't really know real people would come in those 20's fashion...but they did. They totally made the party true and real. And they were so much enjoying the moment and also the past, their past culture. I have to say, I was so envy to see these people who could bring back their past making it so fashionable and enjoying it as well. (Honestly 20's culture and fashion are more than worth of appreciate though) Anyway, it was one of the best experiences I had in NY in my last 12 years here...

[20's Motocar Exhibition]
These classic vintage cars were so handsome. I always loved the old dashboard as well.

[Vintage Clothing, Hats and Ties]
To achieve perfect 20's look...

[Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra]
A trunk and a suit from a musician...and the drummer.

Authentic '78 records from the 20's played on vintage phonographs.

[Dancing & More Dancing]

[Flappers, Sporting Gents and Tiny Tots Enjoying Music, Dancing, Gathering & Picnicking]

I liked this girl's outfit the most today. It was not just plainly mimicking 20's, but she reinterpreted the style in her own kitsch way.  And her head piece looked gorgeous.

Enjoying watching people dancing...

There were every possible styles of picnic mat and bag. From Persian style to checkered.  From L.L.Bean to vintage suitcase...

Adorable Couples...

Lovely ladies' only picnicking.

A line up for fashion show.

A gathering in style.

Beauties and beaus in bathing suit.

A tiny tot in yellow dress with flapper mom.

The cutest family picnicking truly in style. Mom in chic jumpsuit and braided chignon, and Pa is preparing salad. The little one dressed up in casually stylish shorts. Nothings on paper plate nor with plastic. Even the blanket was matched with their plate, picnic bag and outfit.

The food ticket guy finishing up the day's business. Actually he was one of the best dressers today in cool seersucker jacket.

They look so chic in those natural linen suit. It truly looked like a scene from "The Great Gatsby".

A lady with paper umbrella...she was a little camera shy.

I liked the outfit of the girl in the middle.

The boy was so cute and stylish...and very very polite as well.

Another boy having his late lunch.

Another fashionable group enjoying their amusing afternoon.

A navy blue marine look jumpsuit with red umbrella.

One more stylish group...Their outfits are all color coordinated together. navy, beige, natural, slate and black. They looked great as one.

A cocktail from St. Germain Elderflower Liquer. They also gave out free cocktail recipe booklet and postcards.
