Sat. 06/05/2010 - Streets in Fort Green, Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Flea Market was located in the beautiful Fort Greene Historic District. I didn't know about the area when I went there. By the time, I left, I found out this was the preserved area for the historical value. No wonder there were so many beautiful houses. Most of houses are well reserved Brownstones built in 1850s and 1860s. I had a chance to talk to a old lady who's lived there for more then 30 years, and she told me, since the area was preserved, you couldn't change anything of the buildings. She also told me a story that one house attempted to change the entrance door but the owner was forced to put back the original door by the government.

I researched a little bit more about the area, and it had very interesting history, and many of historically important buildings. I wish I knew this before I went there...so I will definitely visit there one more time. (I am actually going there tomorrow to check Sunday flea market. Wikipedia was helpful as always!

And I continued my door/widow documenting project.

I am not sure what these houses were in old times. I first thought it must have been an old fire house, but then I saw so many of the houses with this big garage (today's purpose) door. So, I was thinking they might have been barns, or farms. Historically there were many of farms, so I assume they were...
From some point, my pictures were coming out all blurry on some spots. Later I realized that on the lens I had olive oil grease from my sandwich I had at the flea market!!! Some cases the pictures look nice with this blurry effect, and some cases they are just plain blurry pictures.
