I think one of the best things about NY is, I can experience all these different cuisines, and in authentic way. It's always good that your friend from that country brings you there, and orders the dishes that are truly favored by people from the origin, instead of ordering what only foreigners can order.

Gabi brought me Caracas Aprepa Bar in East Village the other day (last Friday). Aprepa means Venezuelan corn muffin stuffed with anything from beef to sweet plantains. I totally let Gabi pick the menu (She is from Venezuela!) and she ordered her favorites plus a national dish (with rice, pork, black bean). I really liked stuffed plantains and cheese sticks. The names were so new, so I couldn't really register them very well. But I so much enjoyed the food there and my good company Gabi. She also treated me saying since it's Venezuelan, so it's on her....now I owe her big time!!!

I couldn't really take good pictures of food there...so only that cheese stick. Gabi tole me this was a must-have for every special occasions, like birthday. If the party doesn't have it, that party is a failure!

  1. Isn't it the best? I loved my dinner with Gabi there! So glad I got a chance to go before I left NY. Those cheese sticks absolutely rock!
