Thurs. 06/24/2010 - Ace Hotel

I had to check out some antique stores and antique center around 60th and 57th Street, but before I go there, I wanted to checkout "Ace Hotel" that I was planning to go with Gabi after dinner in Korea Town.

Ace Hotel used to be a residential building (long time before it was Breslin Hotel) where many of my Korean friends lived when we were in school. I had at least 7 people whom I know living there, and they all was at Parsons at that time. About 3 of them were my best friends, and I was in that building all the time as well. To us, it was quite a surprise that place became one of the hippest hotels in NY.

I heard that the developer was expecting to change the area, Ace Hotel as a starting point. But the area was still busy wholesale area for jewelry and fragrance as before, and I hardly even recognized any difference of the building until I saw the tiny "HOTEL" sign...

Possible one of my friends used to  live in this room. It looks like Sun's room.

Gabi said she once tried pig feet here...possibly this?

I liked the overall design of the hotel and its eateries, and I specially liked these guys uniforms. But unlike their uniforms, they were not the nicest boys...but sort of grumpy boys.

{No. 8a}
No. 8 and  No. 8b are in Lower East Side.
Throughout the ground floor area of the hotel, the old flooring was kept as it was. Now I see it, the flooring looks great! There is also "Opening Ceremony" but it didn't allow me to take picture there.

After Korean B.B.Q as dinner, Gabi and I went back here to have drink at the lobby bar, but it was too packed and we have to wait for the bar! We just left...

BTW, next time I think I need photos of K-Town!!!
